Gonzo Films

The question, "What's a Gonzo film" is one we get asked quite a lot here at Adult Film Zone UK. Well, as we're always keen to try to help, we're happy to explain this often misunderstood adult DVD genre.

A Gonzo film is quite simply one in which the cameraman and/or director gets involved with the action instead of staying completely behind the scenes as is usual in most adult DVDs. The Gonzo genre comes from a style of news reportage where the reporter becomes involved with his or her subjects and this has simply been adapted into an adult DVD context.

There are many studios offering gonzo films and it is one of our largest adult DVD genres with well over 400 films in stock. For UK adult DVD fans, one of the best known exponents of the gonzo style of film is our dear Ben Dover. He is the cameraman, the director and he actively takes part in the sex whilst also taking care of the commentary and often adding a little humour into the bargain.

For us, this is gonzo at its best and demonstrates very well the advantages of this style of adult DVD production. Gonzo films often have a very strong sense of viewer involvement; you are invited into the scene to share it with the performers and the cameraman, rather than viewing it passively from afar. This gives a huge sense of connection and intimacy and the informal, very straight forward approach many gonzo films use (especially films by Ben Dover) make them a firm favourite with many adult DVD fans.
